I am pleased to attach the 2010 list of handicaps.
There have been a number of changes this year, both in the way the IHS handicaps are displayed and the way they are calculated. The two most important changes are as follows:
1) there are now two IHS handicaps for each boat, "Local" and "Passage".
The Local handicaps are very similar to last year's IHS handicaps and are used for all "round the cans" races which include all the GYC points and trophy races and the RCIYC evening and Frostbite races.
The Passage handicaps (which are the same as the Inter Island Race handicaps, now the "Carey Olsen"!) will be used, as the name suggests, for the passage races which are sailed predominantly with the tide. This generally effects just the RCIYC races and a list of exactly which races will be sailed using the Passage handicaps can be found in the RCIYC Sailing Instructions, which are now at the Club. This does include races such as the Round Herm and Round Sark which are sailed with the tide.
2) IHS handicaps have previously been rounded to the nearest half a minute (in a hundred) ie 0.005. This rounding is no longer applied
As always, these ratings will be reviewed from time to time. There may also be some amendments required as I receive new information on race entry forms and IRC certificates
If you have any questions please let me know
Kind regards IHS List 2010
Martin
